Together We Rise: A Night with NAWIC
Speaking at WIC Week 2025
Earlier this year, when I walked into the Women in Construction (WIC) Week 2025 for the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Montgomery Chapter 267, I was surrounded by women who weren’t just building projects; they were building futures.
Walking into a room filled with women who are shaping skylines, building communities, and breaking barriers was powerful. The atmosphere buzzed with energy, laughter, and determination. Their theme this year, Together We Rise, wasn’t just a slogan on the program—it came alive in every conversation I had that evening.
What I Shared
My talk that night centered on something that shaped my own journey again and again: attitude. Not the surface-level kind of “positive thinking,” but the deep, intentional choice we make every single day about how we show up.
Attitude isn’t automatic. It’s not something handed to us by our circumstances or coworkers. It’s something we get to protect, shape, and use to create better outcomes—for ourselves and for the people we influence.
A Personal Connection
One of the most meaningful parts of the evening for me was weaving together a story from my time as a Flight Engineer in the Army to the work I do now with Fly Fearless and watching those lessons resonate with women in an entirely different field.
Construction may look different than aviation or coaching, but the truth remains: when you choose resilience and courage, you don’t just rise—you make room for others to rise, too.
Why It Matters
That’s what inspired me most about NAWIC: the way these women show up for each other. In an industry where they are often the “firsts” or the “onlys,” they continue to prove that strength multiplies when shared. The ripple effect of their encouragement, advocacy, and presence will outlast any single event.
Gratitude
I left NAWIC Montgomery with a full heart—grateful for the warm welcome, the connections made, and the reminder that when women choose to rise together, there’s no limit to what we can build.
Closing Thought
Your attitude is more than a mood; it’s a foundation. One choice at a time, it has the power to shape your future and lift everyone around you. Choose wisely. Choose to rise.
If this resonates with you, I’d love to connect. And if you'd like to learn more about the incredible work NAWIC is doing, visit their website, follow them on Instagram, or like them on Facebook.
Together, we rise.
